On May 26, 2025, Mr. Suriyan Vichitlekarn, Executive Director of the Mekong Institute (MI), hosted a farewell meeting in honor of Mrs. Nguyen Yen Hai, MI Council Member for Viet Nam, and Mr. Nguyen Viet Ha, MI Steering Committee Member for Viet Nam. Both have served with dedication as representatives of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations under the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Viet Nam.
Also present at the meeting was Dr. Pham Hoang Mai, Director General of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations, who notably served as Viet Nam’s first MI Council Member since the Institute’s establishment in 1996.
The meeting featured thoughtful discussions on Viet Nam’s recent advancements in economic growth, national planning, and investment strategies. Valuable perspectives were also shared to support the development of MI’s upcoming Strategic Plan for 2026–2030.
Mr. Suriyan expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the three distinguished representatives for their unwavering support, leadership, and guidance in their roles within the MI Governing Board and as part of Viet Nam’s Coordinating Agency for MI.
Their contributions have made a lasting impact on MI’s governance and regional collaboration efforts. MI extends its deepest gratitude and warmest wishes to them for continued success in their future endeavors.
