WORKSHOP ON GMS POWER SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY PROGRESS AND INNOVATIVE DEVELOPMENT

Innovation and Technological Connectivity

Twenty-seven representatives from Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) power authorities and utilities joined the workshop on ‘GMS Power Science & Technology Progress and Innovative Development’ on August 21-22, 2018 at the MI Residential Training Center. The one and half day workshop aimed to enhance the understanding of science and technology research and development application in the power sector of the GMS countries. Organized with the support of Yunnan Power Grid Co., Ltd. (YNPG), the event is part of MI’s six-year collaborative project with YNPG that sets out to develop the regions’ technical capacity in energy technology.  

The workshop featured country presentations on the current situation of science and technology innovation for power grid, and scientific and technological achievements and applications in the energy sector, such as the use of x-ray visual technology for power equipment diagnosis, and technologies research and equipment development for safety precaution.

The key points on the specific technologies raised by participants during the workshop will be considered for incorporation in the professional training on ‘New Technologies Application for Power Grid Development’ on October 22-November 2, 2018 to be held in Kunming, China.
