A team from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) led by Mr. Paul Welcher, Agriculture Attache from the Office of Agricultural Affairs, visited the RLED-EWEC Project Field Office in Khammouane, Lao PDR on September 5, 2018. The visit was to gain a better understanding about the EWEC Project’s on-the-ground implementation including best practices, challenges and lessons learned, as well as to familiarize with the rice production and processing practices for commercialization in the province.

The EWEC Lao team also accompanied the delegation to an on-site training on Pest Management Control conducted by the Department of Rice of Thailand. The field visit continued on to Bounmy and Saibua rice mills to show the group the processing of quality rice following GMP standards.
