Mekong Institute, with the support of the Republic of Korea through the Mekong-Republic of Korea Cooperation Fund (MKCF), is organizing the 3rd modular training on Green Freight and Logistics Management in Mekong Countries at the MI Residential Training Center in Khon Kaen, Thailand. The training program is scheduled on April 1-5, 2019 (Third Modular Training).
Part of a three-year project on “Green Freight and Logistics Development in Mekong Countries,” the modular training programs aim to present tools to help logistics service providers (LSPs) to become more competitive and reduce cost of logistics and transport; discuss the potential and benefits, and best practices in green freight and logistics; and build capacities of LSPs in complying with ‘green mark’ certification.
Anchored on participatory processes and action-based learning, the training will be conducted through a combination of methods – lectures, plenary discussions, case studies, group activities, role play, and simulation. By doing so, the training aims to equip the participants with knowledge and skills on sustainable practices in the transport and logistics industries in the Greater Mekong Subregion.
An interested applicant should be aware of the full duration and content of the training programs and implementation of the action plans after completion of the training. The program comprises of two phases as follows.
Learning phase – one-week training program at the Mekong Institute’s Residential Training Center, Khon Kaen, Thailand (the 3rd training program on April 1-5, 2019).
Knowledge application phase – participants will implement the action plans in his/her country within 2 months after completion of each training. The MI team will provide technical assistance to implement the activity during April – June 2019.
WHO CAN APPLY?
The training is designed for senior- and mid-level officials from the government (including Ministries of Transport, Energy and Environment, Port Authorities); private sector (Logistics Associations, Freight Forwarders Associations, Logistics Operators, Trucking Companies, Shipping Liners, etc.); and universities or logistics training institutes.
Full scholarships will be provided to a total of 30 participants (six each from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Thailand). The scholarship covers travel, accommodation, meals and a daily subsistence allowance.
