The Mekong Institute (MI) organized a three-day synthesis and evaluation workshop on “Improving Food Quality and Safety through Good Agricultural and Postharvest Practices (GAP) in Fresh Produce” on November 20-22, 2013 at the Mekong Institute Residential Training Center in Khon Kaen, Thailand. 

The workshop assessed the action plans implemented by participants after completing the GAP training in May 2013. In implementing their action plans, the CLMV participants organized training programs on GAP for agricultural extension staff and farmers in each of their respective countries. The training materials used in the in-country trainings were further refined during the workshop at MI and will form part of the localized training packages being developed for CLMV in preparation for the GAP Training-of-Trainers (TOT) which will be organized in 2014. 

The workshop, sponsored by the New Zealand Aid Programme (NZAP) under the project entitled “Capacity Development for Integrating CLMV into AEC,” provided an opportunity for the participants to learn from each country’s experiences and created a venue for the participants to reflect, evaluate, and synthesize the modular learning approach used in the GAP training program.
