MI Trade Facilitation team attended the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) Forum in Dong Ha City, Vietnam from 25 26 June 2010. The forum was the first regional event in Dong Ha City, organized by Peoples Committee of Quang Tri Province and World & Vietnam Report. 

More than 500 delegates from 5 GMS countries participated in the forum, representing ministries and agencies of Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Guangxi (China), Asian Development Bank (ADB), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and leaders of Quang Nam, Da Nang, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Tri, Quang Binh and Ha Tinh provinces. 

With the financial support and technical assistance from donors such as ADB and JICA, EWEC countries have built and upgraded their infrastructure and fostered cooperation on border-gate administrative reform, tourism development, and investment promotion in recent years. 

The forum served as a platform for managers, business leaders, investors and researchers to discuss the demand and potential of regional cooperation along the corridor, upgrade of EWEC infrastructure, and policies to connect the EWEC business networks. Delegates expressed their appreciation to the forum organizers, and believed that continuous cooperation on EWEC development will create more business opportunities in the GMS.
