MS. THI TRUC PHAN
MANAGING DIRECTOR, LEVICA HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM
Activity : Promoting Women Entrepreneurship for Export Business

Overall, I am satisfied and I feel very lucky to be selected to join the program. Because I’m also a trainor, one of the things I learned from MI that I can apply in my trainings is asking a trainee to think of an activity that will motivate others to join. The other one that I learned so much from the session is on market information. As an exporter, we should choose or target a country before we try to export to that country.

I think the training program is well constructed, especially the follow-up training on how to adopt what we have learned from the training. I have to say also that I think MI facilities are way better than the other places that we’ve stayed at in Bangkok or Khon Kaen. The people here are really supportive and friendly.

In addition to the training, I also gained so much benefit from the Investor Forum. I expanded my network to Lao, Myanmar, Cambodia and other business people. It really broadened my knowledge on export business.

MS. KHIN OHMMAR MOE
MANAGING DIRECTOR, SABANAN COMPANY LTD. YANGON, MYANMAR
Activity : Promoting Women Entrepreneurship for Export Business

I have an MBA so I have some theoretical background, but there are a lot of challenges especially as a woman entrepreneur because we need a lot of market information and competition is very high. We need more know-how and more mentorship. Because of this MI training on women entrepreneurship, I have a chance to meet women entrepreneurs in CLMV, and we shared our experience not only on the theoretical but also practical knowledge. We try to build partnerships with each other, so this is very useful for us.

The subjects are very practical for us to apply in our business. One of the most important is business planning. Normally as an entrepreneur, we try to catch an opportunity as soon as we see it; we never make the plan. In this training, we learned that before we make any action, we need to plan everything, scan the environment, analyse the market data, calculate the financials. Another important lesson is marketing. We had a chance to practice on the Alibaba platform.

The curriculum and the resource persons are very good, very practical, and we learned many things. The facilities in MI are also quite good, and the staff well-trained.

MR. SOKHEMRIN YOS
ASSISTANT TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL, MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION, CAMBODIA
Activity : Regional Training Program on Labor Migration Management in the Greater Mekong Sub-region

This training is a bit of a surprise for me because it’s long-term – it’s two weeks. I can say that the training is very interesting because I gained new experiences, and the curriculum presents insights from CLMV and practices in Thailand.

One of the topics most relevant to my work is the information about migrant workers especially the process of recruitment because that’s something I don’t normally deal with in my regular work. So I gained more knowledge about this part. We learned also about international and regional recruitment when it comes to migrant workers, and this has been very helpful because based on experience, we sometimes only focus on national policy.

MS. SOUDALAY PHOMMAHAXAY
DEPUTY HEAD, MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, LAO PDR
Activity : Regional Training Program on Labor Migration Management in the Greater Mekong Sub-region

The training has been very good, very helpful and interesting. As I’m working for the consular department issuing the passports for Lao citizens, the information on the one-stop service has been very helpful to me, as well as the topic on raising awareness among migrants before they leave for the destination country.

I find the training very well-organized. The organizers were all prepared. The facilities were adequate. I wish to extend my appreciation and thanks to MI for organizing this course for us. It has been very useful and helpful.

MS. NATTAYA JITKOH
DIRECTOR, NARI SAWAT RECEPTION HOME/PROTECTION AND OCCUPATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, MINISTRY OF SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT AND HUMAN SECURITY, THAILAND
Activity : Regional Training Program on Labor Migration Management in the Greater Mekong Sub-region

It’s my first time to learn about migrant labor, and I think this training is very useful especially in dealing with the issue of anti-trafficking. This is my first time to join [this kind of] training and meet with people from other countries, and they have all been very helpful especially in our activities.

MR. MYO MYINT AUNG
DEPUTY STAFF OFFICER, MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS, MYANMAR
Activity : Regional Training Program on Labor Migration Management in the Greater Mekong Sub-region

This training is very useful for us because in my country there are a lot of migrant laborers, and I find the topic on the registration of migrant workers as one of the most useful topics. The training has also been well-organized, and the accommodation and facilities are good and comfortable. I would like to thank all of you because I gained many experiences and know-how. I think this training program can promote better relationship among GMS countries, and I feel very happy that I’m part of this training.

MS. NGUYEN THI THU HANG
OFFICER, MINISTRY OF PUBLIC SECURITY, VIETNAM
Activity : Regional Training Program on Labor Migration Management in the Greater Mekong Sub-region

This training course is helpful to me as a government officer as I had a chance to hear about the opinion of other organizations, and learn about the laws concerning migrant [workers] at the national, regional and international levels. The training is well-organized, and I must say, thank you for your hospitality.

DR. SO PHAT
VICE SURVEILLANCE BUREAU AT COMMUNICABLE DISEASE CONTROL DEPARTMENT, MINISTRY OF HEALTH, CAMBODIA
Activity: Raising Public Awareness for Safe Food Consumption

The contents of this training, especially the best practices from the different offces and countries are truly benefcial and helpful to our work in the Ministry. We learned updated information on food safety, and I realized that we have common issues on food safety but each country has a different approach, different ideas and solutions. So the things I learned in this training, I hope to implement in our country.

The methodology of the training – the lectures, exercises and writing activities – also helped me appreciate the delivery of the content. It is very good for people who are older, who need information to be repeated often, and to help in the transfer of knowledge from theory to practice. Also, when we arrived here, everything has been properly provided – from transportation, accommodation, to the support services. I really appreciate them, and I hope to attend more trainings in MI in the future.

SONEXAY KOMXAYSANA
DEPUTY OF AGRICULTURE SECTION AT MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY, VIENTIANE
Activity: Raising Public Awareness for Safe Food Consumption

This course is really important because not many people know about food safety. Access to information about the subject is also limited and the communication of information has not been effective. This course therefore taught me more about the subject and how to communicate it.

It’s my frst time in Mekong Institute, and I think MI has done very well. The lecture was very clear, and the course coordinator and the MI staff were all friendly and took proper care of us. The environment was also very good. The place is quiet, safe and clean.

PHAN THI KIM NHUNG
SENIOR PROGRAMME OFFICER AT VREDES EILANDEN COUNTRY OFFICE (VECO), VIETNAM
Activity: Raising Public Awareness for Safe Food Consumption

The topic of the training program is timely and relevant because food safety is an urgent issue, a pressing concern especially in Vietnam. It is important to improve consumers’ awareness on food safety because it can also lead to a positive impact on production. One of the most valuable lessons I learned from this training and which I hope to adopt or practice in my work are the fve steps in communicating food safety. The training materials are all very clear and well-prepared. Everything is organized. I also like it here [in Khon Kaen University]. The environment is quiet, peaceful, no pollution; and we have a spacious room at MI.

Activity: Raising Public Awareness for Safe Food Consumption
I had once attended an MI training 14 years ago, and I think the main difference is that the training method is now more modernized. There is also a new building, and the conference room is spacious and big. MI is known in the CLMV for their training programs, and I am very happy to be able to join this training.

Economies in Transition for Mid-Level Managers

I am an old student that took part in an MI training workshop fifteen years ago and MI is a very good memory for me. I am so lucky to have been involved in a nine week training course and I feel this unforgettable memory during this period of workshops. I also remember there were several modules for learning, which, until now, these modules and learning cycles helped me a lot and influenced me in my life and my study. During that period of time, I felt a very exciting and colorful life, not only learning activities but also visiting programs, so it is a very good learning atmosphere.
