MI Welcomes International Training Participants on Climate Resilience and Smart Land & Water Management

On September 24, 2025, Mekong Institute (MI) welcomed participants of the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) International Training Course on “Climate Resilience – Smart Land and Water Management: Solutions for Sustainable Agriculture and Environment.”
 
The training course is organized by the Faculty of Agriculture, Khon Kaen University. This year, 12 participants from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Brunei, and Pakistan joined the study program, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chuleemas Boonthai IWAI, Director of Integrated Land and Water Resource Management Research and Development Center in Northeast Thailand, Faculty of Agriculture, Khon Kaen University.
 
At MI Headquarters in Khon Kaen, the delegation was welcomed by Ms. Orn-Uma, Program Director of MI’s Agricultural Development and Commercialization (ADC) Department, who shared insights on the department’s work to strengthen sustainable agricultural Development and Commercialization across the Mekong region.
 
The session continued with thematic exchanges from MI experts:
 
– Mr. Nam Pham introduced the Mekong Connect Project, highlighting private sector engagement and regional trade facilitation.
 
– Ms. Wang Jian, Program Manager of MI’s Sustainable Energy and Environment (SEE) Department, presented on the Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus, emphasizing the role of innovation and technology in advancing climate resilience.
 
– Ms. Anusara, Communication Manager, presenting MI’s efforts through the ASEAN Climate Resilient Network and the GMS Knowledge Network, which foster collaborative solutions and knowledge sharing on climate adaptation.
 
By hosting this exchange, MI reaffirmed its role as a regional knowledge hub and partner in building capacities for climate-resilient agriculture, sustainable land use, and integrated water management.
