MI Strengthens Partnership with the National University of Laos for Regional Development
The Mekong Institute (MI), led by Executive Director Mr. Suriyan Vichitlekarn, met with Prof. Dr. Phouphet Kyophilavong, Vice President for Research and International Cooperation of the National University of Laos (NUOL), on April 25, 2025, to explore opportunities of collaboration in support of shared development goals across the Mekong region.
Building on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in 2022, the meeting focused on advancing a strategic partnership under MI’s New Five-Year Strategic Plan (2026-2030). Discussions highlighted potential collaboration models, including NUOL’s role as an academic partner in MI’s capacity-building programs and research initiatives, as well as opportunities for MI to support the capacity development of NUOL’s students and faculty members.
This renewed commitment underscores MI’s continued efforts to strengthening partnerships and working collaboratively to drive regional cooperation and integration across the Mekong.
