MI Participates in Mekong–Lancang Cooperation Week 2026 Marking “Golden Decade” in Bangkok

Government officials, regional experts, and youth representatives convened in Bangkok on 25 March 2026 for Mekong–Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Week 2026 and the 10th Anniversary Collaboration Dialogue, marking a decade of regional partnership and cooperation.

The Mekong Institute (MI) was represented at the event by Mr. Ronnarit Chaiyosaeng, Program Coordinator from the Trade and Investment Facilitation Department, who is currently implementing an MLC Special Fund (MLCSF)-supported project. His participation reflects MI’s continued engagement in supporting regional dialogue and cooperation.

Opening remarks by senior representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China highlighted the MLC as a “golden standard” of regional cooperation. Over the past decade, the MLCSF has supported more than 1,000 projects across member countries, including over 100 projects in Thailand valued at approximately USD 29 million.

A key highlight of the event was the launch of Thailand’s MLCSF 2025 projects, introducing 19 new initiatives focused on public health, green economy, and agricultural modernization.

The dialogue also underscored the growing role of digital innovation in addressing shared challenges, including climate resilience, air pollution, and water management, alongside the importance of strengthening trade, investment, and regional connectivity.
