MRS. ELIZABETH ELLIE TOOMATA-AIMAASU
PRINCIPAL STRATEGIC PLANNING OFFICER, MINISTRY OF WORKS, TRANSPORT AND INFRASTRUCTURE, SAMOA
Activity : International Training on Green Freight and Logistics Development 2019

This is the first time that Samoa has participated in a training on green freight and logistics in Thailand. The lessons are very good and can be easily applied in our local context especially in terms of the different components and areas of green freight and logistics.

I think the most interesting part of this training is the introduction of eco-driving. We learned about the many positive impacts of eco-driving, and if we introduce this in our countries, we can develop effective green freight, maintenance, implementation and framework.

I would like to encourage more participation from the Pacific countries; it will be good for the people from the Sub-Pacific countries to get this kind of exposure and experience sharing with other countries in the world.

MS. SENGCHAN PHONGSAVATH
ANALYST, FOOD AND DRUG QUALITY CONTROL CENTRE, LAO PDR
Activity : Regional Training Program on Food Hygiene and Sanitation for Food Handlers

The main topic of this training program is highly relevant to my work. Since I work with the Food and Drug Control Office, it is my job to disseminate information and check and monitor practices. I especially like the discussions on personal hygiene, alert management and facility design. The organizers are very supportive, and I am amazed that I have both shared and gained experience and knowledge from the other participants of this course.

MR. CHEA SAMADY
OFFICER, DEPARTMENT OF LOGISTICS MONITORING AND EVALUATION, GENERAL DEPARTMENT OF LOGISTICS, MINISTRY OF PUBLIC WORK AND TRANSPORT, CAMBODIA
Activity : Modular Training on Green Freight and Logistics Management (3rd Round)

The topics I liked in this training were those on fuel efficiency, motor shift and green freight. These are very interesting because air pollution is a concern for many countries, and this training imparts information on how to address this problem from the standpoint of the logistics and transport sector.

I want to thank MI for training programs like this that allows us to learn from each other things that we can apply in our own country.

MR. NGUYEN NGOC LINH
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER, MORNING GLORY INC., VIETNAM
Activity : Regional Modular Training on Rural E-Commerce Development in Lancang-Mekong Countries 2019

I enjoyed this training a lot because I received very solid background on e-commerce that I can use to prepare a plan and develop further next year so we can connect our farmers with a broader customer base for fresh produce.

The first trainings I attended at MI were focused on building my own company’s capacity and strengthening our production capacities with knowledge on Good Agricultural Practices, Good Manufacturing Practices and food safety. So my first trainings were more about developing my company, and this training is a good complement because now it has taught me how to get out, how to bring my products out there through e-commerce.

DR. NGUYEN THI THAO
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, HANOI UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, VIETNAM
Activity : Regional Training on Training of Trainers on Food Safety Promotion

Even though I’ve been working as a trainer for more than 10 years now, this program is useful in sharing new ways to conduct trainings, such as the training cycle management and the tools to use to effectively convey messages to participants. These are information I learned not only from the resource persons but also from the MI facilitators and also my fellow participants.

One of the most impressive activities of this training for me are the games because we learn things like collaboration and communication. I also like that MI has a coordinator that takes care of many details for us right from the very beginning. I have attended other training courses and I must say, this is one of the best trainings I have attended so far.

MR. TRIDEJ GUPTABHA
CEO, THAIREEFER GROUP CO., LTD., THAILAND
Activity : Modular Training on Green Freight and Logistics Management in Mekong Countries

This training program is good for those in the public sector but also very important for the private sector. The course is very intensive and comprehensive.

In my company, we have Green Mark, QMark, ISO9000 but I have not previously paid attention to these things but joining this course made me realize that our company is in the right direction and we’re doing the rights things that will benefit both the company and the world.

MR. DANH ENGKAKADA
ADVISOR, ASSOCIATION OF CAMBODIA RECRUITMENT AGENCIES CAMBODIA
Activity : Strategic Management to Labor Migration in the Greater Mekong Sub-region Addressing the Challenges through Good Practices

The curriculum provides very helpful information and they introduced studies that show the challenges being experienced by migrant workers. These are all very good information that we can use in the action plan that we will implement when we go back to our country. Mekong Institute is an important institution that gives us a place to learn and work together.

MS. WAH WAH MIN
MANAGING DIRECTOR, SKILLS FOR SUCCESS RECRUITMENT AGENCY AND HR CONSULTANCY, MYANMAR
Activity : Innovative Entrepreneurship: From Ideas to Starting a Business

This training was very structured and delivered the most essential skills to entrepreneurs. It’s a training program that can help me carry out my work and succeed in my business goals. We learned not only the business practices but also the exchanged information about our countries and culture, expanding our network. MI is a great place to learn business practices and exchange culture among Mekong region countries.

DR. KUOK FIDERO
DEAN, FACULTY OF CHEMICAL AND FOOD ENGINEERING INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, CAMBODIA
Activity : Raising Public Awareness on Safe Food Consumption

This training is very useful because it brings all the members from different countries to see how we can work effectively to raise public awareness on food safety. It’s very useful because the academic world is somehow quite different. We are more focused on the scientific finding and investigation, and we are not good at communication so this is a good opportunity for us to learn a new skill and close the gap between the scientists, the community and the policymakers.

MR. NHAN MINH TRI
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE AND APPLIED BIOLOGY, CAN THO UNIVERSITY, VIETNAM
Activity : Mainstreaming Food Safety Risks

I find the teaching method of the training to be very good. We have four groups from different countries and in each group, participants come from different disciplines. It’s a good way for people to share different ideas, experiences and points of views. The topic on HACCP is also very interesting because there are only few people who know about risk analysis for food safety. I will update my lectures and course modules with the concepts I learned from this training, and I can also use them to help my students do their thesis and investigate on the food safety situation in our country.

MS. ZONG LINGBING
VICE PRESIDENT, OPERATION DEPARTMENT, YUNNAN WUZHOU CROSS-BORDER E-COMMERCE CO., LTD., P.R. CHINA
Activity : Rural E-commerce Development in the Lancang-Mekong Countries

I would like to thank MI for this opportunity. The overall training has been excellent, and the teachers have very rich experience in the field of e-commerce. Yunnan province also has many farmers, and we need the experience and knowledge from a training like this so we can continue to improve.

MS. CHARYA TUM
OPERATION MANAGER, LOGISTICS DEPARTMENT, PUZZLE SOLUTION, CAMBODIA
Activity : Green Freight and Logistics Management in Mekong Countries

This training introduced us to new knowledge. I particularly liked the discussions on product activity and fuel utilization. As part of the private sector, our first priority is always to save cost, and from this training we learned that saving cost is related to green trade. Previously we did not know much about green trade; now we understand that it’s also about helping us save on cost.

MRS. PRISCILLA ZAMORA
DIRECTOR AND CO-FOUNDER, WOMEN IN MANAGEMENT CHILE
Activity : International Training Program on Gender Equality and Women Empowerment: Sharing Good Practices of Thailand

This training has been a great experience as we discussed what we can do in our country and also what we can learn from each other. I am so happy that I could talk about the experiences in my country and what we dream to achieve. The trainers are wonderful professionals, and the organizing team has been so warm and helpful to us. I’ve never had an experience like this, and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and expertise of such training at MI.

MR. TRAN PHI TUAN
EDITOR, TUOI TRE NEWSPAPER, VIETNAM
Activity : Regional Media Training Program on Food Safety Reporting in CLMV

This training helped me to understand more about food safety, from the basics to the more technical details. The field trip also gave us an opportunity to learn more about the supply chain. The information we gathered from the experts in this training would be very useful for us as we write our articles. If there is another training course that is longer and with more activities and that can help me in my job as a journalist, I hope to join.

MR. WAROT CHATASEWEE
TRADE OFFICER, MINISTRY OF COMMERCE, THAILAND
Activity : Modular Training on Management of Special Economic Zones Practices in Lancang-Mekong Countries

As part of my work, I prepare the information for my boss to facilitate better negotiation with other countries. With this training, I now have a better understanding of special economic zones (SEZs) so I can prepare more precise information. The case studies were a very good exercise to learn more about SEZs especially how decisions are made as to which country they will build their plants.
