The ASEAN-German Cooperation Project, “Promotion of Sustainable Agricultural Value Chain in ASEAN” (ASEAN AgriTrade), commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is supporting relevant ASEAN working group, networks in the organisation and/or engagement in climate relevant meetings, or in sector specific workshops on climate topics, and implement training/knowledge exchange activities and policy dialogue formats on relevant topics for ASEAN climate actors. In 2022, MI was contracted by GIZ AgriTrade Project to provide support to the ASEAN Climate Resilience Network (ASEAN-CRN) and ASEAN Negotiating Group on Agriculture (ANGA).

ASEAN-CRN is a platform for regional exchange, particularly for sharing information, experiences, and expertise on climate smart agriculture (CSA) supported by the ASEAN AgriTrade project together with the Food and Agriculture Organization Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (FAO-RAP). One of the major achievements of ASEAN-CRN is establishing the ASEAN Negotiating Group on Agriculture (ANGA).            Since 2018, this group has been representing ASEAN positions on agriculture in the context of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). ASEAN AgriTrade in collaboration with FAO-RAP is providing capacity building and coordination support to ANGA.

Staring from September 2022the GIZ AgriTrade project contracted MI to provide support to ASEAN-CRN and ANGA. MI is providing provide strategic inputs for the network’s direction, aligns its work with ASEAN goals, supports the network’s communication and cooperation process of its members and monitors the implementation of ASEAN-CRN’s workplan. For ANGA, MI provides strategic inputs and support communication and cooperation process among ANGA members, including processes related to developing UNFCCC submissions.
