2ND REGIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM ON CERTIFIED LOGISTICS MASTER, OCTOBER 26 – NOVEMBER 6, 2015

The 2nd regional training program on “Certified Logistics Master” started on October 26, 2015. The training course is part of the three-year project on “Certified Logistics Master Program”, funded by the Mekong-Republic of Korea (ROK) Cooperation Fund (MRCF). 

30 participants representing transport operators, freight forwarders, warehouse operators, government officials, and Logistics Association from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Thailand attended the training which aims to improve cross-border and trans-shipment logistics services through capacity development and accreditation of local logistics providers. 

During the opening remarks, Dr.Watcharas Leelawath, Director of MI, introduced the modular training program referring to the 1st modular training which was conducted from March to August 2015. He outlined the objectives and the outcomes of the three year project to improve cross-border and trans-shipment logistics services through capacity development and accreditation of local logistics providers. He also emphasized the significance of the impact which will be created by the participants upon their successful completion of the training to improve connectivity of the region. 

Mr. Shin Hyeong-eun, Minister, the Embassy of Republic of Korea, Bangkok, mentioned the significance of program as the first program conducted under the Mekong-ROK Cooperation Fund (MRCF), organized by the Mekong Institute. He highlighted that the government of the Republic of Korea, as a major partner for the development of the Mekong region, recognized the need for a more efficient management of the Mekong-ROK Cooperation Fund and thus ROK has collaborated with the Mekong Institute to act as the Coordinator of the fund. 

The two-weeks training follows a modular format with three inter-related phases; i.) training, ii.) knowledge transfer phase and iii.) a final examination. The successful candidates of the modular cycle will be certified as ‘Logistic Master’.
