OPENING CEREMONY OF NEW CONSULAR PREMISES OF CONSULATE-GENERAL OF THE P.R. CHINA IN KHON KAEN

Khon Kaen, Thailand (June 22, 2015) – The Consulate General of the P. R. China in Khon Kaen opened its new consular premises today. Dr. Wacharas Leelawath, Director of the Mekong Institute (MI) and two Chinese staff attended the opening ceremony, which stands as testament to the growing importance of Khon Kaen as an important regional hub. This year marks the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between P. R. China and Thailand. Thailand and P. R. China are one family. 

The Consulate General of the P. R. China in Khon Kaen established in 2012. Its consular district covers 20 provinces in northeastern Thailand. Khon Kaen is the commercial, culture, education and transportation center of northeastern Thailand which has great cooperation potentials with P. R. China in areas of economy, trade, culture and education. 

Mekong Institute (MI) is an inter-governmental organization locates in Khon Kaen, Thailand, mandated to promote the regional cooperation through capacity building program. It serves the countries of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), namely Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, Viet Nam and P. R. China’s Yunnan Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
