STRUCTURED LEARNING VISITS ON AGRICULTURAL PLANNING AND INVESTMENTS IN THAILAND, JANUARY 20-25 AND FEBRUARY 3-8, 2014

Agricultural Development and Commercialization

Mekong Institute (MI) is organizing two 6-day Structured Learning Visits on “Agricultural Planning and Investments in Thailand” from 20 to 24 January and 3 to 7 February 2014. These structured learning visits are sponsored by the German Agency for International Development Cooperation (GIZ) under the program titled “Land Management and Rural Economic Development Program (LM-RED)”. The program is tailored for 40 government officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and government counterparts from Attapeu, Luang Nam Tha and Xayabouri provinces, including GIZ local and international advisers. 

The structured learning visits will be held at MI Residential Training Centre in Khon Kaen, Thailand, with structured learning visit sessions at 4 different organizations involving in agricultural planning and investments, which will provide the participants first hand information and expose them to the agricultural planning procedures in Thailand. The participants will learn how agricultural production was prioritized, the criteria for prioritization, the measures to promote production in the prioritized sections, the process of translating national strategy into sub-national implementation plan and the cooperation between private sector, public sector and farmers/communities in this promotion.
