A delegation led by Dr. Gu Xiaosong, Senior Researcher and Vice-President of Guangxi Academy of Social Science (GASS) paid a visit to Mekong Institute on 12 July 2010. The visit was a part of the study tour for the promotion of Pan-Beibu Gulf Economic Cooperation and the acceleration of construction of Nanning-Singapore Economic Corridor. 

Ms. Maria T. Medialdia, Officer-in-Charge, welcomed the delegates. After a short introduction about the Mekong Institute, Ms. Sanda Thant, Program Manager, made a presentation on MIs ongoing activities and discussed the project on Enhancing Provincial and Local Chambers of Commerce Capacities in Trade and Investment Facilitation along East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) in more details. 

The delegation has taken a keen interest on the ongoing projects of MI, especially those which are related to trade and investment facilitation in the EWEC. Dr. Gu hoped that a similar project can be undertaken between GASS and MI on North-South Economic Corridor. He likewise expressed optimism that a joint undertaking with MI will happen before the end of the year, possibly on the Nanning-Khon Kaen Agribusiness Workshop slated in October.
