MI EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MEETS WITH DIRECTOR GENERAL OF THAILAND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION AGENCY (TICA)

On August 17, 2022, MI Executive Director (ED), Mr. Suriyan Vichitlekarn held a meeting with Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General (DG) of the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who also serves as MI Council Member for Thailand. Mr. Cheevindh Nathalang, Deputy Director-General and Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Director of Development Promotion and Coordination Division and also a MI Steering Committee Member for Thailand, were also in attendance.

At this meeting, Mrs. Ureerat presented the Annual Contribution for MI Operations 2022 to MI ED. Mr. Suriyan conveyed sincere gratitude to Her Excellency and her team for the continued support and cooperation in enhancing the capacity development of the Greater Mekong Subregion.

The DG of TICA took the opportunity to congratulate MI on receiving the ASEAN Prize Award 2021. Later, Mr. Suriyan updated TICA on MI’s works and activities and confirmed MI’s participation in all sessions of the Global South-South Development (GSSD) Expo 2022.

The GSSD Expo 2022 will be co-hosted by the Government of Thailand and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), and will take place from 12 to 14 September, 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand. This year’s slogan is “Advancing South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Sustainable COVID-19 Recovery: Towards a Smart and Resilient Future.

The MI ED and the TICA DG also discussed the idea and concept of the Mekong Forum 2022.
