In collaboration with the Asia Development Bank, the Mekong Institute has co-organized the Project Management Learning Program for Junior Officials. The learning course commenced on 23 March, 2009, and will close on 3 April.
The program aims to strengthen competencies of junior civil servants from the GMS in areas of project management. Participants are junior officials from six GMS countries.
The faculty team is made up of experts with extensive knowledge of project management. Dr. Kenneth Smith, Lead Faculty of the Project Management Learning Program, who specializes in planning, monitoring and evaluating public sector, economic and social development programs and projects. He primarily works for the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the World Bank, and the US Agency for International Development (AID). Dr.Suchat Katima, the MI Director, who specializes in designing and facilitating capacity building programs in areas related to Project Management, Performance Management and Leadership. Mr. Randy Balaoro, a registered Civil Engineer and a certified Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute, the highly acclaimed professional organization of project managers worldwide. Ms. Blesilda Calub, a University Researcher and Affiliate Associate Professor at the Integrated Farming Systems and Agricultural Extension Division (IFSAED), University of the Philippines Los Baos. She is leading a project on Underprivileged Farmers for the Philippine-Japan Grant Assistance Program.
Two MI Young Greater Mekong Subregion Professionals, and one other MI staff member, are also taking part in this learning course. It gives them an opportunity to network and build on their project management skills and knowledge.
