Building Capacities for Greater Regional Cooperation and Integration
As one of the longest running IGOs in the GMS, Mekong Institute (MI) is dedicated to building a better subregion focusing on human resource and capacity development to enhance regional cooperation and integration.
We work closely with our GMS partner governments, governments of other countries, businesses, civil society actors and research institutions to deliver quality and effective project implementation and transfer of knowledge, as well as conduct research and facilitate policy dialogue.
With over 25 years of experience, MI possesses a wide variety of expertise, including agricultural development and commercialization, trade and investment facilitation, and energy and environment.
Enhancing Regional Cooperation and Tapping Potential
Capitalizing on our experience and expertise, we have been trusted by our GMS partner governments and beyond to assume various new mandates to support other sub-regional cooperation frameworks and mechanisms.
Since 2022, MI has assumed the role of Regional Coordinator of the GMS Knowledge Network. And in 2023, MI will provide the back-office support to the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS)’s Interim Secretariat.
