BACKGROUND

The digital transformation of agriculture in the Mekong subregion is progressing, yet smallholder farmers in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Vietnam (CLMV) still face barriers in accessing and utilizing digital agricultural platforms. Existing platforms provide information on agricultural best practices, market prices, and weather forecasts; however, challenges related to accessibility, awareness, and digital literacy persist.

To bridge these gaps, technical assistance is needed to enhance the range and quality of information available on digital platforms and to increase farmer awareness and adoption. An initial assessment will be beneficial to map the availability, relevance, and accessibility of agricultural, market, and pricing information on current digital platforms in the subregion.

In partnership with Mekong Institute (MI), the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) of Cambodia has initiated a project that focuses on digital solutions to improve information access and support for smallholder farmers in CLMV.
