Mekong–ROK Cooperation Fund Launches 10th Call for Innovative Regional Project Proposals

The Mekong–Republic of Korea Cooperation Fund (MKCF) has officially launched its 10th Call for Regional Project Proposals, inviting eligible institutions from the Mekong region and the Republic of Korea to submit Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for the 2026 funding cycle.

Established under the Mekong–Republic of Korea (ROK) cooperation framework, the Fund continues to serve as a strategic financing mechanism to advance regional collaboration, sustainable development, and people-centered partnership across Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Viet Nam, Thailand, and the Republic of Korea.

Advancing Regional Solutions Through Innovation

For its 10th Call, MKCF places strong emphasis on innovative regional initiatives that address shared development challenges and generate measurable, sustainable impact.

The Fund seeks proposals that:

  • Address cross-border and regional issues
  • Strengthen Mekong–ROK cooperation
  • Deliver impactful and measurable results
  • Demonstrate clear potential for scaling up and replication

Projects must contribute to long-term regional integration and ensure sustainability beyond the project lifecycle.

Priority Sectors

Proposals must align with the seven priority sectors outlined under the Mekong–ROK Plan of Action:

  • Culture and Tourism
  • Human Resources Development
  • Agriculture and Rural Development
  • Infrastructure
  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
  • Environment
  • Non-Traditional Security Challenges

Cross-sectoral and integrated approaches are particularly encouraged where they enhance regional value addition.

Funding Parameters

MKCF provides grants ranging from USD 300,000 to USD 1,000,000 per project, with a duration of two to three years.

While projects may be implemented in one or more Mekong countries, proposals must demonstrate clear regional relevance and benefits extending across the Mekong subregion and the ROK.

Triangular or multi-partner collaboration with other development partners is welcomed, particularly where it enhances innovation, leverages additional resources, and strengthens sustainability.

Eligibility and Submission

Eligible applicants include:

  • Government agencies and autonomous organizations
  • Academic and training institutions
  • Non-governmental organizations
  • International organizations, including UN agencies

Applicants must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) in PDF format through the respective Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the five Mekong countries or the ROK. The submission deadline is April 10, 2026.

Only shortlisted applicants will be invited to proceed to the next stage of the selection process.

A Decade of Strengthened Partnership

As MKCF enters its tenth call cycle, the Fund continues to reinforce its role as a catalyst for practical cooperation and sustainable development outcomes. By prioritizing innovation, scalability, and regional relevance, MKCF aims to support projects that not only address current challenges but also lay foundations for long-term resilience and shared prosperity.

Interested institutions are encouraged to review the full call details and engage early with relevant national focal points.
