MI Launches Regional Training on Smart Agriculture

Khon Kaen, Thailand — The Mekong Institute (MI) has launched the Regional Training Program on Smart Agriculture Technologies and Practices from September 22–27, 2025, supported by the Mekong–Republic of Korea Cooperation Fund (MKCF).

The program brings together 25 participants from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Viet Nam, representing government agencies, academic institutions, and the private sector. Over six days, participants will strengthen their knowledge and skills in precision farming, IoT-based monitoring, climate-smart practices, and public–private partnership models—all tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities of the Mekong region.

Designed as a highly interactive program, the training features expert-led sessions, practical demonstrations, structured learning visits to smart farms, and collaborative action planning. By combining knowledge exchange with hands-on learning, the initiative seeks to accelerate the adoption of smart technologies, modernize agri-food systems, and foster cross-sector partnerships across the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS).

This training is part of the broader Mekong CONNECT project, which aims to enhance agricultural resilience and modernization through Collaboration, Networking, Empowerment, Capacity-building, and Technology. It also directly contributes to advancing the Mekong–Han River Declaration Plan of Action (2021–2025) by promoting regional cooperation and sustainable agricultural development.
