From November 1, 2021 to November 4, 2021, a workshop entitled “Sharing of Experiences, Best Practices, and Lessons Learned in Controlling COVID-19 Outbreaks between Republic of Korea (ROK) and Mekong Countries” is hosted by Chulalongkorn University Institute of Asian Studies and Seoul National University Asia Center. This workshop was supported by Mekong-Republic of Korea Cooperation Fund (MKCF) and Mekong Institute as the MKCF coordinator. The aims of this virtual workshop were to share and exchange experiences as well as the best practical practices to cope with the existing challenges related to COVID-19 outbreaks between the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the Mekong countries.
With the hit of COVID-19 Pandemic, prosperity and regional peace in the region are significantly affected.
Although the pandemic has worsened the situations in many aspects, I believe that the ROK and the Mekong countries will further enhance their capabilities in responding to the issues concerning with COVID-19 outbreak
as raised by Mr. Robby Rosandi, Project Manager, Mekong-Republic of Korea Cooperation Fund (MKCF), Mekong Institute in his remark. He also mentioned the importance of the workshop to better cope and deal with the COVID-19 Pandemic management among the ROK and Mekong countries.
The main topics throughout 4-days of the virtual workshops were Thailand and COVID-19: Disease Control emphasized on the two main subtopics such as “Strengthening Disease Control in Migrant Community” and “Migrants & Thailand Open Country”, Migrants: healthy workplace focused on subheadings of “Health and Safety at Workplace During COVID-19” and “COVID-19, migrants and garment in industry in Thailand, and the subject of Innovation and ways forward pinpointed about the two matters consisting of “Start-up in controlling COVID-19” and “How Digital technology helps government fighting COVID-19 in Thailand pandemic”.
A group of 38 participants from various fields such as the professionals in public health, migration, ICT, and social research were founded joining this workshop. Admired presenters in this virtual workshop include Dr.Soawapak Hinjoy, Director of Office of International Cooperation, Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health, Mr.Wasurat Homsud, Senior Program Officer, Program Quality Department, Raks Thai Foundation, Mr.Prad Kerdpairoj, Director of Sustainability, Asia Sustainable Development Department, Thai Union Group, Mr. Wason Vitanakorn, CEO, Hi-Tech Apparel Company Limited, Dr.Panachit Kittipanya-ngam, CEO/Co-Founder ZTRUS, and Mr. Saroj Ativitavas, CEO, Wisible Company Limited.
Assoc. Prof. Naruemon Thapchumpon, Chulalongkorn University Institute of Asian Studies had wrapped up the overall discussions done throughout the 4-days virtual workshop before handed over to the Seoul National University Asia Center to close the workshop and discuss the early preparation for the next workshop in Korea.
