Background
With the support of the People’s Government of the People’s Republic of China, Mekong Institute (MI) is implementing a capacity development project on “Scaling-Up Digital Connectivity for Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises in the Lancang-Mekong Countries for Post-Pandemic Resilience” from November 2022 to December 2023. The project aims to identify digital technologies and solutions that can be successfully scaled up in the Lancang-Mekong (LM) countries and promote feasible policies and strategies that could best support in scaling-up digital connectivity in MSMEs sector, with focus on showcase public and private sector initiatives to support MSMEs, and discuss how governments and development partners can further engage with the private sector to pave the way for a quicker economic recovery in LM countries, which provide a pathway to contributes to achieving goal of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, the Global Development Initiative, and the SDGs.
The project is comprised with three components: 1) Research, 2) Onsite training, and 3) Expert dialogue. Under the Component-2, Mekong Institute has implemented onsite regional training on “Scaling-Up Digital Connectivity for Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises in the Lancang-Mekong Countries for Post-Pandemic Resilience” on July 10-14, 2023. Upon completion of this training, the participants implemented the respective action plans between August to November, 2023. Consequently, this workshop is organized to reflect the experiences of participants on action plan implementation as well as discuss further steps to support forward digital connectivity in the Lancang-Mekong Countries for Post-Pandemic Recovery.
