Community-based Ecotourism (CBET) Planning and Management 12-18 May 2010
The Mekong Institute, in collaboration with Hue Tourism College, with the support of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and Thailand International Development Cooperation Agency, is going to organize a seven-day regional workshop on “Community-based Ecotourism Planning and Management” (CBET) in Hue city, Central Viet Nam with structured learning visit to ecotourism sites in Viet Nam, Lao PDR, and Thailand (along EWEC) from 12-18 May 2010.
The project aims to assess challenges and opportunities in product development, planning and promotion, and management of CBET, enhance capacity of provincial authorities in developing and managing CBET, raise awareness and promoting of preserving the sub-region’s irreplaceable resources, and strengthen sub-regional cooperation and network.
Eighteen middle level officials from provincial tourism departments, local tourism sites management along East West Economic Corridors (EWEC), and private sector personnel will participate in this 7-day integrated training program. The program will be held first at Hue Tourism College in Viet Nam for two days followed by structured learning visits to 1) Phong Nha Ke Bang – Natural World Heritage, Quang Binh Province, Vietnam, 2) Phou Hin Poun National Biodiversity Conversation Area, Khammouane Province, Lao PDR, and 3) Ban Wang Nam Mok, Nong Khai Province, Thailand.
